QUARAH
Jupilism
The main religion in Quarah is Jupilism. Approximately 95% of the population believes in Jupilism. The main feature of this religion is the worshipping of Baboons, who live on the holy Baboon island.

The worship of Baboons influences the lives of the people in many ways. Everyone has to go to the Baboon temple on Saturdays, where a Priest preaches to the people while wearing a mask of a Baboon. They pray to the chief God of the Baboons, named Primus. At the end of the ceremony, the priest sprinkles the attendees with Baboon faeces, this ritual is believed to bring luck. All the temples sell Baboon statues, these statues are really popular among the population and every family has some statues in their home. The money gained from the sale of these statues is used for the maintenance of the temples dedicated to Baboons all over the country.

It is also expected from every Quarahi that he or she travels to Baboon island once in their life. In this way they pay their respect to the Baboons.

But why do the Quarahi worship Baboons? The myth says that when the Quarahi were still a small people, they were being terrorised by foreign tribes and the baboons helped to drive them away. Led by the alpha male Primus. Since then Baboons were considered as holy animals. Since then they are living peacefully together with mutual respect.
